Ears Extra

Available at Tate Britain in July. Because, of course, they were showing the "Van Gogh and Britain" show. I love how the shops have stuff related to their special shows. That's not always useful if you are visiting the museum after the exhibit closes, but if there is Van Gogh about then you might see some of the same.

At this show, I learned that Van Gogh spent nearly three years in Britain and painted British things. He also influenced British artists and this was explored in the exhibit. One of the sunflowers paintings had traveled a few miles from The National Gallery to be in this show. There is another at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam that is too delicate to travel. Must go see it (and see what they have in the gift shop).

We didn't eat in the museum or at any spot especially close to the Tate. But we found a very interesting casual restaurant called B Bar in the Rubens Hotel with a South African theme that's only a mile away. And therein we discovered some great stuff on the menu like Peri-Peri Chicken Livers and Bobootie Spring Rolls. Go there even if you opt for the more prosaic dishes and some South African wines.

See art. Eat. Exit through the gift shop.
